For an election to be held on a uniform election date, the day of the filing deadline is the 78th day before the election day.
Qualifications Pursuant to Texas Election Code Section 22.032:
(a) To be eligible for the office of mayor of the municipality, a person must be a registered voter in territory and must have resided within the municipal limits for twelve (12) months preceding the election day. For purposes of this subsection, residency in an area while the area was not within the municipal limits is considered as a residency within the limits if the area is part of the municipality on election day.
(b) To be eligible for the office of alderman of the municipality, a person must be a registered voter in territory, must reside in the State of Texas one (1) year prior to the filing deadline, and must reside within the city six (6) months prior to the filing deadline.

The May 2, 2020 City election is canceled. The following candidates, who are unopposed in the May 2, 2020 City election, are declared elected to office and shall be issued a certificate of election following the time the election would have been canvassed.
